Raif Adelberg...

Here's a print from Artist Raif Adelberg's recent show titled "Fuck I love you Los Angeles"...

“Take a chance. Don’t worry if you’re gonna offend people. Do what’s in your heart. Do what’s in your head. Do what’s pure to you. When you close your eyes, what do you see? Well, create that.” – Raif

Hermann Hesse...

"There’s no reality except the one contained within us. That’s why so many people live an unreal life. They take images outside them for reality and never allow the world within them to assert itself."

-Hermann Hesse

"do not stand at my grave and weep"...

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I do not die.

-Mary Elizabeth Frye

"Our scars help us to remember the past was real"...

This is the fucking coolest thing I've seen in a very long time...

Now you can get a necklace, ring, earrings, or bracelet modeled after your own scars...
Ive always thought scars to be beautiful and sad, and know they can be worn in the form of jewelry as a sort of badge of honor...
We all have marks that remind us of our past, for better or worse, and web-based jeweler 'It's My Scar' will help you celebrate them. The company turns silver, gold, and platinum wax-cast replicas of any scar into bracelets, rings, earrings, or necklaces. The abstract, delicate, organic-looking pieces start at $200 and are a clever way to showcase your personal badges of honor.

Céleste Boursier-Mougenot...

Issues of mechanical reproduction, unconscious art-making, and the beauty of chaos swirl about in Céleste Boursier-Mougenot’s charming work. The themes are well-worn, but the approach is lighthearted and inviting. This French artist and composer has a knack for misusing everyday objects to create alarmingly organic music.

For instance: Boursiey-Mougenot once jerry-rigged a grand piano to play musical notes translated from the text being typed on a random laptop. He’s also attached harmonicas to the end of vacuum cleaners to create otherworldly, organ-like noises.

In the video below, the artist placed an amplified guitar in the middle of a gallery and then allowed dozens of birds to perch upon its sensitive strings, resulting in some surprisingly listenable accidental drone! Enjoy...xo

Black Market Baby...

I seriously need this shearling panel sweater by Etsy's Audrey Cantwell...I have to say for an etsy store (Black market baby) its a bit pricey but considering her clothes are all hand made I see it as a wise investment.

Just Kids is Patti Smith's memoir of her life with Robert Mapplethorpe—specifically at a time in their lives when, the New York Times notes, they "were young, inseparable, perfectly bohemian and completely unknown."

allison schulnik...

"Allison Schulnik is one of those artists who sees the world through a different set of lenses, and knows how to channel it effectively so we can all get in on the experience. She has a knack for bringing out the grittier and lesser-known side to everyday objects. In her series of paintings, she creates many images of clowns using a gruesome and fantastical vision that is reminiscent of Francis Bacon. Schulnik takes ceramic cat figurines – usually reserved for crazy ladies' mantelpieces – and drips them in glitter and gloom until it looks like they’ve been out raving all night."

Kitty Calendar anyone?

Ok, so here's the deal. I love clothes and I love animals, but it's pretty damn creepy when I see dogs trotting around in knitted sweaters or real-life versions of Puss in Boots. That's why my face was a combination of horror and too-cute-must-die meltiness when I saw United Bamboo's 2010 Calendar preview featuring kittens in miniature versions of UB duds. However, the fact that their donating all the proceeds from the calendar to a cat charity somehow makes it all worth while. Fashion designer Miho Aoki was brainstorming unique ways to photograph United Bamboo's Spring 2010 clothing collection when it came to her: Nameneko, the trend from her native Japan of dressing up cats in costume and photographing them. The company is taking orders via email (help@unitedbamboo.com). AND best of all, They plan to donate the proceeds to a cat charity.
